My Counseling Approach
I began my journey towards becoming a counselor when I began to receive counseling myself. I had tried for years to overcome my struggles on my own, to no avail. I only began to heal when I turned to a counselor who has able to help me to change my unhealthy thought and behavior patterns to healthier new ways of approaching life's challenges. My life was so impacted by this experience that I decided to become a counselor myself. I have an intense desire to share the relief I have found with others and to help them to find their own ways of battling life's challenges and shortfalls. Although early in my schooling I lean towards three particular theories of treatment: Carl Roger's person centered theory, existential theory, and cognitive behavioral theory. I hope to be able to use the principles these theories expound in order to help my clients overcome their struggles and find their way to balanced lives and mental health
